• Team work? Really?

Well it's been a while since my last post, been busy with designing my new page, and learning my share of HTML and CSS to build my own site.

I just realized, I like do things the hard way, and the satisfaction of being able to do something, all-by-myself with my bare hands and be proud of it, is something that drives me. Right from making my music, to the sports I play, I'm independent; don't ask me why, but that's the way I like it..

Right from school, I liked tennis and badminton, while I was good at basketball and volleyball.. Whats the difference.? Tennis and badminton I am the team, my rules, it only affects me if I win or lose, while the other two are team games.

Sometimes it makes me feel arrogant or self-centered, but I don't think I am. I love to be in teams and work in teams, I love to share responsibilities, and discovering something new and creative as a team, but just one small condition, it should be a team of like minded and hardworking people.. I put in a lot of effort to most of the things I love to do, and if I'm in a team, at-least the majority of them should work in a similar way.. But how often would we ever get a team like that??

I've been in teams where we all start out with so much determination and enthusiasm, that we seem unstoppable, and the goal seems so near, but few days into it, almost everyone's bored or lazy or uninterested. Few days later, someone jumps up and gives in some determination and words of advice and they get up and start working again, but then the laziness happens all over again.

Team work is the common word in the corporate world these days, everyone believes in team work and how powerful it is.. Team work is powerful, it can do wonders, but we need the right team, and a good leader to motivate, organize and bring out the best in all.

My post on me being independent is turning into an lecture on teamwork and leadership., haha..

We'll the point I'm trying to make today is, 'you don't always need a team, you don't always need a teacher.'

When I got my piano (almost 10years ago), I couldn't find the right music teacher, maybe I dint look in the right places, maybe I was just lazy to go and read sheet music. Normally, I would have kept my piano in its box and waited for the right music teacher to come and teach me right from chapter one, but I'm proud to say that's not what happened this time.

There was a thought that came to my mind that day, and I will always remember it. Its what drives me everyday, even to this day, and I wish to share it with you..

''Who taught the inventor of the piano, to play the piano?" and "If that guy could, why can't I ?".

Firstly, I really don't know who invented the piano; wikipedia says - (Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco (May 4, 1655 – January 27, 1731) was an Italian maker of musical instruments, generally regarded as the inventor of the piano.) but that's a different story.

If Bartolomeo Cristofori di Francesco, could make the piano from scratch, and learn to play it, and make sweet music on it, without the help of a teacher, why cant we.?

In this 'modern' world we claim to be independent, even though we need help for everything we do and we are very dependent. Let me give you a small example of that..
There's an App ( mobile application) now, to find your way inside a book store, you just type in what your looking for, and the App shows you where to find the book, I draws you a route map of the inside of the store and where your book is. That is just super cool, so easy, so perfect, a true time saver.. right?

But what about those books you would have accidentally stumbled upon, when you were looking for your book without the app, a book which would have been a much better read, than the one your looking for?
It might be a small issue for many, but its a big thing for me.. I feel in life, every small journey has its reasons, I would love to work my way up the Mt. Everest and reach the peak, than to just appear there by magic (no fun in that). Its not the best of examples, I know!, but you get the picture, the journey is what our memory cherishes, let's not miss out on that, we live just once.

Most of you who read this, is probably thinking, this is a really confused guy writing this, well I think so too. I asked you to be independent, and also work in teams, I asked you to climb the Everest and not take the shortcut, cause the journey is important; well I guess I've confused you too now, ha ha:)

Moral of my story.? Teamwork is the best, but if you don't have the perfect team, fear not, a single human-being can do wonders (just takes a little longer), but when your at your goal, you are the new master of it.. Hope this makes sense now..

What is your view on this topic? Let me know..

Thank you again for your patience with me..
